Well, actually, the Pettit National Ice Center in West Allis, WI has ice.
This photo is from last year. I believe they’ve changed the screaming yellow warmup lane to a more restful blue for the 2013-14 season.
Because it is an Olympic year, the Pettit opened early this season. If you’ve never been to the Pettit, it’s worth a trip any time of the year–but it’s especially nice to get in some early-season long track ice on a hot summer day! For a schedule of the long track ice times, go here. Typically the long track sessions are $10-$11. As the season progresses, the Pettit will also offer weekly time trials, as well as official pack style and metric races. For complete information, go to the Pettit website.
