The Roseville Oval hosted the U.S. Long Track Age Group Mass Start Championships the weekend of February 22nd and 23rd. Racing started early on Sunday morning at 8:00AM and was followed by a Minnesota Wild outdoor practice. Ponies, Midgets, Juniors, and Masters battled for 2014 supremacy and standing as a U.S. Champion.
Pony girls (young kids) competed in races of 200m, 300m, 400m, and 500m. Midget girls (not quite as young) competed in races of 300m, 500m, 600m. Junior C ladies competed in races of 300m, 800m, 1000m. Junior A & B ladies competed in races of 500m, 1000m, 1500m. Masters ladies skaters competed in races of 500m, 1000m, and 1500m.
Pony boys competed in races of 200m, 400m, and 500m. Midget boys competed in races of 300m, 500m, 600m. Junior C Men 300m, 500m, 800m, 1000m. Junior B competed in races of 500m, 800m, 1000m, 1500m. Junior A men competed in 500m, 1000m, and 1500m events. Masters competed in races of 500m, 1000m, and 1500m.
The record times for all age groups were posted at the Oval and included a few notable inliners including: Mike Anderson, Danny Frederick, and Joey Cheek. Melissa Dahlmann added her name to the list in the 1500m event.
