Oval Ice Delayed

Posted: November 10, 2016 by auttke in News & Notes

Due to weather (not the climate, not global cooling, not global warming, not global man-made cow flatulence, but due to the weather) the start of the outdoor oval ice season has been pushed back to Friday, November 18th. The 18th is now also the start of Ovalumination ceremonies; sponsors are still needed – see below.

Friends of the Oval Needs Our Support

Each year, Friends of the Oval provides financial support to the Oval and the various skating communities. In the past, they have helped finance the refrigeration repair, video broadcast system, lobby tv’s, and skates for the Novice program.

The Friend’s main fundraising event is the annual Ovalumination which includes over 100 illuminated trees at the Guidant John Rose OVAL. Each illuminated tree represents the sponsor’s company, organization, foundation, or family. See what it looks like in the above video.

Friends would like our help is reaching out to potential sponsors for the 2016-17 season. Skaters and other visitors to the Oval benefit from the festive spirit the lights bring to the area, but the sponsors also benefit. Every sponsor will have their name on the Oval’s video board and through extensive social media campaign including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Sponsoring a tree at our 4th OVALumination will give your business great exposure at the Roseville Skating Center and the Guidant John Rose Oval. The complex annually draws 371,000 visitors with the bulk of 207,000 visiting during their prime season of October through early March daily vehicle traffic on County Road C is in excess of 10,000 per day. We have tree packages ranging from 14 foot arborvitaes to 50-foot spruce. Complete packages start at $425.00 which makes for 3 months of very cost effective advertising! Also, your tree and business’ name will be seen on the OVAL video board during public skating and through an extensive social media campaign that includes Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

• The lights are FREE to view from dusk till dawn 7 days a week – and skating is a nominal fee!
• On a daily basis 25,000 vehicles travel County Rd C so your tree/name will be seen by travelers, scrolling on OVAL video board during public skating and through an extensive social media campaign that includes Facebook and photo contests!
• Help the Friends of the OVAL Foundation keep our OVAL in Olympic caliber condition year round!
• GREAT exposure – you will not only have a temporarily designated tree at the OVAL, your logo/name will rotate on the OVAL video board inside and scrolling sign outside OVAL along with our social media campaign.
• Corporations can also donate to the Friends of the OVAL Foundation in lieu of sponsoring a tree.
